My girls and I are studying bees this spring – what a fun unit study!
We started off with Patricia Polacco’s The Bee Tree and our learning has grown from there.
If you’re interested in the books we are using, make sure you find those at the bottom of this post.
In addition to learning about hives and the role of bees in pollination, we’re also learning about the life cycle of a bee.
So interesting!
Bee Life Cycle Mini-Book
In our study of bees, we’re learning about the bee life cycle – from the queen laying new eggs to larvae to pupa to adult bee.
In this bee mini-book, my girls will write about the different stages of the life cycle.
My preschooler will cut out her book to the best of her ability and write her name on the front. Then she’ll “teach” me about each page, narrating back a few of the life cycle facts we learn.
My Kindergartner will write just 1-2 words describing each page with my spelling help. She can orally describe each page to me in detail.
Lastly, my Second grader will describe each stage of the bee life cycle using complete sentences.
They will each have to assemble the pages in correct order with minimal help from me.
Bee Life Cycle Vocabulary
Also included in this printable set is a Bee Life Cycle Vocabulary page.
Using the words at the bottom, my 2nd grader will write in the correct term on the line.
My Kindergartner and I will go over this paper together orally while she points out the answers. She should be able to read most of the words in the word bank at this stage.
Identify the Parts of the Bee Worksheet
Cut & paste – always fun!
In this Parts of a Bee Worksheet, my girls will cut out the bee words at the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct place on the picture.
